Natural Experiments
Noticing something that occurred and naturally created a control/experimental group and you can just analyze the data.
Correct me if I’m wrong.
You’re right! This is called a natural or quasi-experiment. In this type of study, the researcher does not control the independent variable. Instead, it naturally occurs or changes and the researcher just observes and analyzes its effect on the dependent variable. The groups in such experiments are usually determined by circumstances beyond the control of the investigator.
