How to Measure Networking Success
from Austin Belcak #lit
Here’s the 4 step breakdown, feel free to steal it:
- Draft up three email templates with fundamentally different approaches.
For example:
A) Ask about the open roles at their company
B) Recognize something they’ve accomplished / created
C) Mention a mutual connection or point of commonality
- Create a spreadsheet with all of your target contacts.
Add in columns to track the template you used, your response rates, and your meeting rates.
- Send each template to 20 people on your email list.
Analyze the results, keep the top 2 performers, and delete the template with the lowest response / meeting rate.
Then draft up a new version of the template with the best performance and add it into the mix.
- Rinse and repeat step three.
Every ~20 emails check your metrics and keep iterating.
I personally recommend creating a list of 15 target companies and finding 10+ contacts at each.
That’ll get you a minimum of 150 contacts.
When you email, start with the lowest priority companies / contacts and work your way up.
That way you’ll save the best emails with the most data for the highest value contacts.
This is how you get better results and more responses!
