existentialism
- First, God doesn’t exist, so you don’t have to risk any divine judgment, but you also can’t lazily rely on Christian values, you have to build your own, and live them.
- You can do ANYTHING with your life, but you have to do SOMETHING, and it must be distinctly and uniquely your own approach to life. You’re not allowed to copy anyone else.
- The amount of freedom you have is almost infinite, and completely overwhelming and anxiety-provoking, and you’ll have to learn to thrive on it. As Kierkegaard, the first proto existentialist, said “Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom”.
- You must take full responsibility for yourself, and everything you do.
- You can’t avoid life by denying your power and playing small in the world.
- You can’t pretend you are not free, can’t make excuses that you are locked in a cage, because there is no cage.
- Life is like some mad and impossible challenge that you have to get right. And if you fail to accept the challenge, you’ve missed the whole point of being here at all.
- You need to decide DAILY how to live, how to find meaning, and you need to make choices every day towards building yourself strong from the inside. The only meaning of life is the meaning you make. So make it creative and amazing.
