causal inference
Causal inference in research/data is the process of determining a cause-and-effect relationship between two or more variables. It is a method used in statistical research to establish that one event results in the change in another event. It involves establishing that a variable X (cause) has an effect on a variable Y (effect). This is different from correlation, as correlation merely implies that changes in X and Y happen together, while causal inference goes further to say that changes in X are responsible for changes in Y.
